ANOTHER lesson plan

I really enjoyed last Thursdays class. I liked how each one of us had to get up in front of the class and teach about each part of the LEARN lesson plan template, it helped me understand the format and content that is required to be in the LEARN lesson plan. As always, we are required to integrate literacy within our lesson plans, and this follows standard (3a2 developing) because I am still learning how to integrate literacy in my lesson plan, because it is a little difficult to find ways for it to relate to math, but I am getting there! I am becoming more comfortable with the material that has been taught in this class, and I am really starting to enjoy it!

  2. I have to agree with you, I think that having each group teach one part of the LEARN lesson plan was very effective in not only helping us learn to plan better, but also to help us gain a better, more confident idea of what we will be doing.

  3. From the outside looking in, it seems easy for someone to tell you how to integrate literacy into a math class. I, for example, HAVE to do that when it comes to my students. I'm only responsible for teaching them how to understand the language of math, so it seems easy to me. However, when all you know and all you're being taught in your required classes is to be able to teach your students how to DO math, oh yea, I can see your frustration. I kind of feel that way as well when it comes to my discipline. Other people feel like, oh, it's easy to do or teach this and that, but it's not when you're working in a completely different playing field. You got this girl! I know you can do it!

  4. Alanna,
Sometimes it is difficult to integrate literacy, especially in certain content areas. At first, I had no idea how I was supposed to integrate literacy in to music, but it's great to see how it fits together. It's also a wonderful learning experience to hear how everyone else is incorporating literacy in to their specific content areas as we share insights and ideas with each other!
